Limp mode in a diesel vehicle: why diagnosis matters
Why a vehicle with low power or limp mode should be checked with fault context instead of treated as one automatic part failure.

Limp mode protects the vehicle
When a vehicle loses power and feels restricted, the system may be limiting operation because it sees a fault. The cause can sit in several areas: sensors, boost, fuel, exhaust-related systems, wiring, ECU communication, or mechanical condition.
The correct response is not to assume the most expensive part. The correct response is to collect symptoms, scan where appropriate, and inspect the vehicle.
Send when, where, and how
Tell the team when limp mode appears: cold start, hill, heavy load, highway speed, after refuelling, after rain, or after recent repairs. The conditions around the fault can be as useful as the warning light itself.
If the vehicle can still drive, say whether it is safe to move. If it is loaded or towing, include that in the first message.
